However to its east there is a busy main road that links the north and south coasts. Here are the usual parish buildings (church, elementary school, parish hall and pub). In the south of the parish there is elegant late 19th century-early 20th century housing as well as 1950s bungalows. On the south coast are good shopping and sports facilities. St Aubin’s Bay, a sandy beach, stretches from St Helier in the east to the village of St Aubin with its picturesque port and island castle in the west. The bay is one of the best and safest in the island for sailing and other water sports.
