Weissennsee

This East Berlin suburb is famous for its Jewish cemetery, one of the largest in Europe. It is the citys least populated district and has always been unfavourably compared to its slightly classier neighbours, Prenzlauer Berg and Pankow, in the north-eastern corner of Berlin. Traditionally Weissensee offers the best of both worlds, combining the excitement of urban life with the tranquillity of a rural existence. The local art school is also considered one of the best in Germany. There are no overground or underground stations in the district but it is well served by the tram network, with Prenzlauer Berg and Mitte within easy reach.
