Ringsend is famous for its quaint houses with a variety of colourful brick facades, and has come to represent a very Irish inner-city suburb with its mix of semi-detached houses, cottages, apartment blocks and social housing. There are similar areas elsewhere in Dublin, but none are quite as distinct as Ringsend. This is a lower income area for young professionals. Looming over the suburb is a giant gas ring, a relic from the now extinct gasworks nearby, but still an important landmark. Typically lower income, with new developments attracting young professionals. Its proximity to Dublin Bay makes it an ideal site for development.
