Description

Arriving by underground you find yourself in a very modern shopping centre that has everything, from mini markets to cinemas. Traffic is a bit chaotic, especially along the main roads but there are quieter areas with classic Victorian houses. There is meter-parking for non-residents, as in most parts of the city. The neighbourhood gives off a feeling of vitality. There are good junk and second-hand books shops around Fulham Broadway where you can sometimes pick up bargains. Fulhams main attraction is Fulham Palace, the bishop of London's residence until 1973, with its museum and gardens. Fulham is also home of the Chelsea football team at its Stamford Bridge ground. Once considered the cheap alternatives to the richer and more fashionable South Kensington and Chelsea, both Fulham and neighbouring Parsons Green have now moved up-market and it is no longer possible to find bargain accommodation.
