Gloucester Road

Description

Rather than being a neighbourhood it is an area which revolves around its underground station on the Circle and Victoria lines. It is divided by the busy Cromwell Road into north and south, with the north ending at Hyde Park and the south at South Kensington. It is a mix of an area with upmarket graceful mansions side-by-side with rather faded apartment blocks. Residents pay an annual fee for parking; non-residents have to pay by the hour. Shopping is excellent, with a range of supermarket and small corner shops and there is a huge choice of restaurants. It is home of two of the most popular museums in London, the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum and one of the city's most distinguished science university, Imperial College. Here you will also find the French Lycee and the Islamic cultural centre.
