Lavapies

Situated between Plaza Tirso de Molina and Plaza Lavapies (both have underground stations), and La Latina and the Atocha railway station. Once Madrid's Jewish district, today Lavapies is inhabited mainly by immigrants, especially north Africans. It's a lively, noisy area with a high density of apartments, nearly all of them with balconies. Slightly chaotic, especially in the rush hours, there are a numerous shops and markets, especially along Calle Meson de Paredes. There is plenty of low-priced accommodation here.
