The Via Prenestina goes east from S. Giovanni. It is almost always blocked by traffic. It a lively and functional but not very attractive part of town. The buildings are dull-looking and uninspiring, but accommodation is cheap and public transport connections are good. There are plenty of of shops and even some street markets.
